Full Time
Experienced
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Operations Development Lead
Location: Remote
FLSA Status: Exempt

Overview
The Senior Enterprise Platform Engineer partners with engineering, operations, and product teams to turn complex platform requirements into scalable, production-grade cloud and on-premises solutions. This role owns critical infrastructure across CI/CD, Kubernetes, data platforms, and networking, and is central to keeping OneRail's systems reliable, secure, and able to scale as the business grows. We're looking for a hands-on, senior-level engineer who combines deep technical expertise with strong judgment, is comfortable leading through ambiguity, and can mentor other engineers while raising the bar for engineering standards across the team.
Responsibilities
  • CI/CD & release automation — Own CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and self-service release tooling (ArgoCD), automating build, test, security scanning, and deployment so product teams ship safely and independently.
  • Infrastructure as Code — Architect and maintain IaC frameworks (Crossplane, Cookiecutter) for repeatable, auditable, policy-compliant provisioning across cloud and on-prem.
  • Kubernetes & workloads — Deploy, tune, and operate containerized workloads and self-managed OSS services (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch) on Kubernetes, including scaling, quotas, network policies, and cluster lifecycle.
  • Data & databases — Manage cloud data platforms (Snowflake) and relational/NoSQL databases: pipelines, access control, performance tuning, capacity planning, backup/restore, and patching with rollback readiness.
  • Reliability & networking — Design HA/DR architectures (multi-region failover, RTO/RPO validation) and optimize cloud networking (VPC, peering, service mesh, DNS) for performance and security.
  • Incident response — Lead on-call escalation, root cause analysis, and blameless post-mortems to reduce repeat incidents.
  • On-prem infrastructure — Administer Linux servers, Nutanix HCI clusters, and Cisco networking equipment.
  • Standards & mentorship — Run code and infrastructure reviews, set engineering standards, mentor engineers, and evaluate emerging cloud-native technology against scalability and cost goals.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of senior/expert-level DevOps and cloud architecture experience across Azure, GCP, and on-premises private clouds.
  • Expert in CI/CD operations, GitHub Actions pipelines, branching strategy, build optimization, and static/dynamic code analysis integration.
  • Expert in Kubernetes architecture and administration, plus Linux configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
  • Expert in GitOps-driven public and private cloud provisioning and secure network design (ingress/egress, service discovery, DNS).
  • Expert in building highly available, redundant service architectures and observability (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, Loki, Mimir, Tempo, OpenTelemetry).
  • Expert in on-prem hardware, including Nutanix clusters, general and GPU compute, and Cisco networking/firewall appliances.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient with self-managed, redundant streaming and messaging platforms (Kafka, KurrentDB, RabbitMQ/ActiveMQ) on bare metal and Kubernetes operators.
  • Proficient with relational (MySQL, Postgres, CockroachDB) and NoSQL/columnar (MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, ClickHouse, Cassandra) database platforms.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 05/31/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
